Design and Fabrication of Concrete Solar Collector

An improvised passive solar concrete collector system has been designed, fabricated and tested at the Kakinada location to investigate the feasibility of the same in green building aesthetics by embedding serpentine copper tubes within the concrete slab.

The concept of introducing copper piping into the concrete slabs of buildings to provide cooling and heating of water has been implemented.

I played a major role in the manufacturing and modifying of the collector. I coordinated with 2 other team members and designed new changes to make improvements.

This project determined that this method is not suitable for in-wall construction on big buildings, but can be used in other places such as walls to absorb heat and to pre-heat water which saves energy.
